Medicare Enrollment Periods

There are a few different Medicare enrollment periods.

The Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is the first time you can enroll in Medicare. It starts three months before your 65th birthday month and ends three months after your birthday month.

The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is the time when you can make changes to your Medicare coverage. It runs from October 15 to December 7 each year.

The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is for people who have a Medicare Advantage plan. It runs from January 1 to March 31 each year and allows you to switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or switch back to Original Medicare.

There are also Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) for certain life events, such as moving to a new area or losing employer coverage.
